 Subject: 02 Dakota Problem Please Help

I have an 02 2WD Dakota with a manual transamission and 4.7L. When I hit a dip or bump in the road and the front suspension compresses it makes a knocking sound in the front end. It sounds like it is coming from the drivers side. It's just one knock, not anything repeated. Any ideas what it could be?
