 Subject: shakle reversal for the rear

ive been looking at the rear of my trucks suspension. the rear hangers both sit well below the frame. if i torched out the rivits then i can lower the rear to the desired highth and then weld/bolt the hangers back to the frame.
but today i had the idea to take the rear hanger and flip it 180* so the shakle points up. then i could get the same drop w/out putting the hanger an inche from the bed.
of coarse i would lower the front end of the leaf so that would keep my pinion angle correct. what do you guys thing. sound like a plan?

You have a "2x4" Dakota.
The axle is above the spring pack.
Use lowering blocks (between axle and springs) to get the height change you want, then a wedge shim to correct the pinion angle. You'll need longer u-bolts, too.

thats already been done. if i did do this lowering deal i would still leave them on there too.
as of right now my truck sits perfectly level. i like the way it sits but it just needs to be lower.

You could take a leaf out of the spring pack. No torching or welding required.
