I am considering it. that lifetime powertrain warranty is appealing. It depends on a few factors.

I have an 02 QC 4x4 4.7L

If i can find a comparable model (overhead console, skid plates, etc) and get a decent tradein value on my current truck then I'm in.

I doubt the incentives now will be enough to make me want to pay that much for one. I dont want more than $250 month payment.

I looked them. Styling is OK, engineering is good. But the engine is too small. I want more torque, not less.

When they put a small turbo diesel under the hood, I'll take another look.

Come to think about it, that would indeed make a nice option "345cid Hemi" and why not?? You would think that with MDS you could still get the same millage as the 287 cid V8 if not better.

I think one of the biggest draw back to the Dakota is that theres not really to many suspension package to choose from.

After looking at all the views and angles on the posted Dodge link, I have to say I like it. The TRX4 with fender flares does it for me. Raise it up just a tad, say 1-2 inches and I think it would look good. Maybe something about the rear that I'm not real fond of, but the front has really improved.

Dude, I saw that 8.25 crap on there too Greg. Thats bull! If I'm going to buy a Dodge truck with a V8, I want that damn 9.25 diff. I'm telling ya man, DC is making the dakota less and less attractive to real truck buyers. I'm never going to buy one of those rolling lumps of crap.

It's interesting that dodge is complaining about poor Dakota sales, and is considering deleting it from the line up. But, whenever you talk to truck buyers (real truck buyers, not soccer moms) you hear all the reasons they wouldn't buy a new Dakota. Not enough power, small axle, weak suspension, poor gauge package, etc.

The Dakota has become a runabout SUV with an open back, and nothing more. People who want a truck to be a truck are stuck with the full sized - and they're not much better unless you step up to the 3/4 ton models.

Hang on to your older Dakotas, they will be sought after in a few years.

I guess the new 4.7L V8 is too powerful for the manual tranny - can't configure a V8/manaul combination. If you want a stick you are stuck with a wimpy (in comparison) V6. Boo!!!

Why don I think of the Honda Ridgeline when I took a look at the link that Mac posted??

I to would like to know what with the 8.25 Axel?? Did not the Gen 3's have 9.25 inch axels on the R/T or with the 360cid motor?

screw the 2500, you might as well step up to the 3500 then, you can still get it in quad cab short box
i had mine loaded with about 3000lbs of electric motors last week, it handles a little different but still had power o'plenty

Well the question should be..... What are they going to replace the Dakota with???

If they would be it with better capability then it would even be a issue.
