Modain, I notice that in your profile it says that you have a flush mounted bed cover. Correct? Do these look better than traditional? I am wanting a bed cover and I like the idea of one, but would love to hear somebody else's opinion. Thanks.

Finally... a V8. '01 Dodge Dakota RC, 4.7, 5-speed, 3.92 LSD. = R/T Killer.

I do have a flush-mount cover. I feel they look much better than the "hang-over-the-rail, permanent, one-piece, front hinged" tonneaus. Personally, I think those covers ruin the look of the bed.

My cover is self made, actually my buddy made it and another upholstered it. I have gotten quite a lot of positive comments in person and on-line. I like it because it is basically most of two sheets of 1/2" plywood joined with a piano hinge, with four shaved 2x4s to strengthen it. It is light enough so I can remove it when necessary. And small enough to fold up (in half) and put it in the bed along with whatever I need to carry. I can even stand on it.

It mounts on 1/2" aluminum channel riveted to the side of the bed rails. It is held down with bungie cords to the front bed tie downs. I can flip it up, hold it down with a sand bag, and drive with it open. It removes and installs easily.

It doesn't seal so water gets in (it probably could be made to seal with some thin, dense, weather stripping), and there is no lock. Not a problem for me, because these weren't a priority for me. I just wanted whatever I had in the bed out of sight and not subject to the airflow as I drive down the road.

Check out the photos is this gallery... (uplink speed is slow, be patient on the full size pictures)

I have seen some time ago www.urbanindustries.com marketed a flush-mount tonneau for Dakotas and other trucks. I just checked their web site and can't see any tonneaus in their product line. You might contact them to see if any are still available. Or you could make your own if you were so inclined. I'll provide you much more details should that be what you chose to do.

What's your left foot doing?
