Subject: Transfer Case Shifting IP: Logged
Message: My 98 Club Cab won't shift out of 4WD. I move the lever but the transfer case does not shift back into 2WD. Only way to get it to shift out is to stop and back up a bit. Then, when I put it back into drive it will be in 2WD. Any clue as to whats wrong?

Message: I know that my dad's GM was like that, but it was the other way around. It would not go into 4wd, unless you started messing around with the gears. I would suspect an actuator, but I could be wrong. Not too informed when it comes to Dodge 4WD systems.
Finally... a V8. '01 Dodge Dakota RC, 4.7, 5-speed, 3.92 LSD. = R/T Killer. well at least a stock one

Message: A 98 wouldn't have a Central Axle Disconnect so the actuator suggestion wouldn't apply in this case. Either your linkage needs to be adjusted or something is hanging up in your transfer case. Have you checked it's fluid level?
