everytime i give the truck gas, a ticking noise starts, as the sound your bike tire made when a soda can was stuck in it when you were little .could this have anything to do with a leak in the manifold? any suggetions on what this may be?

Do you mean like it's pinging ? Or sounding like a hole in an exhaust manifold ? If pinging, could be related to a valley pan gasket leak below the intake manifold - which manifold are you referring to ?

could very well be the leak. also check the flange on bottom of manifold to tail pipe.On a stone cold engine, you can quickly run your fingers around all three areas. You will be able to feel the leak if it's one of these.
