 Subject: fuel/oil gauge sticking

I have a '97 Dakota and recently the fuel and oil gauges are sticking on zero or empty even though I have gas and oil. As soon as I accelerate, the gauge levers move to the proper position. Has anyone heard of this or know what I need to do?

bad battery maybe causing low voltage till you rev it a bit, bad ground. same answer.
