Subject: Add-a-Leaf OR Lifting Block? IP: Logged
Message: I have a 1994 that I am wanting to lift. Which is better for an rear lift? I am looking into cranking up my torsion bars on the front end and I trying to find out which is a better way to lift the rear. Add-a-Leaf or Blocks?
Thanks,
Mike

Message: A 4-inch longer spring shackle will give you 2 inches of lift, not significantly change spring rate, and will not change bed load-carrying capacity.
A 2-inch block will give 2 inches of lift. Again, with no appreciable change in spring rate, and no change to weight carrying capacity, but will increase spring wrap.
Add-a-leaf will raise the rear, possibly make the rear end ride a bit stiffer, will increase load-carrying capacity and, depending on type of add-a-leaf, may reduce spring wrap.
Roadmaster Active Suspension will raise the rear a bit, increase the apparent spring rate a bit, increase load-carrying capacity, and significantly reduce spring wrap.

Message: Excellent explanation; and why I went with RAS. It also seems to ride less stiffly than add a leafs I've used in the past, but still a bit stiffer than stock.
Lead, follow, or get out of the way
