Subject: too much oil? IP: Logged
Message: What happens if there's to much oil in the engine? A shop did my oil change about 500 miles ago, checked the dipstick, way over the fill line. I'll go back have em drain a little. But just wondering if this might have damaged some thing inside the engine. No problems yet, just little curious. Thanks for help.

Message: half quart wouldnt be bad
much over that and what happens is the oil gets whipped up by the crank shaft (like a egg beater)
and foams or puts are bubbles in the oil
this is bad

Message: Make sure that the oil is not getting diluted with either gasoline or water & antifreeze. Have you had to add water to the radiator or is the truck running rich? If it is just too much oil, then Curly is right. If it gets whipped up, then the oil pump won't pump it and you lose oil pressure - and that is bad.
