Subject: HELP! Water leak problem IP: Logged
Message: Hi all, I have a 1990 Dakota, ext cab V6 2wd, ah what else that could effect this, a/c, ect. I live in south Florida. Everytime it rains a little hard, I get water on my drivers floor in the cab. I have tried to look for a hole, I have even went out on sunny days and poured water on the hood and windshield to see if I could possibly find or track down where this water is coming from. Please help. The only possibility I can think of is my air vent. It opens into the cab right near the brake pedal. Any advice is appriciated. Thanks

j/k!!!
Sometimes on those older trucks, the rubber things that go around the window and other areas get warped and easily let in air and rain, even if just a little. I know in Florida it doesnt rain cats and dogs, but rather it rains cows and horses!
That would be my first place to look!

Message: joe, take off your door panel and make sure the plastic liner is in place on the door. rain coming down the glass will end up going down the door panel, also make sure the drain holes at the bottom of the door are clear.

Message: Thanks guys, I will check both things. It sur is a pain to have 1.5 inches of water on your floor when you open your door. I have also thought about going to a local metal shop and removing the front carpet and pad and installing some type of diamond plating as my floor. Its a long shot but I think with some effort and some $ It could be done. About the door panel,Jimmeyjack, that plastic Ive messed with before. When I installed new front speakers. Are you meaning that rain can slide down the window and at the bottom, drain through the seal and through the inside of the door and to the floor? Well thank you both. Hope one of these solutions works! Espically before we get any big storms or hurricanes!

Message: I had this happen with a buick skylark. It was coming in the air outlets by the floor (heater vents). It turns out that there is a drain channel that usually runs along the firewall. On the car it was by the blower motor. The one on my car was full of crud. I just poked around in there with a wire until I found the hole and then I ran a hose cleaner through it a few times. Never had the problem after that. Good luck,
Shawn

Message: Sreding, I will try that too. Sounds like my problem. When it rains a little, it doesnt seem to happen. But here in Fla we get alot of heavy rains and it always does it them. Thanks for the help. It really is appreciated.
