Subject: A/C Leakage IP: Logged
Message: So I decided to get in a fight with my A/C and tried re-charging it and found that it leaks where the lines connect to the compressor. Is there a gasket that goes there or is just really crappy luck?

Message: there are o-rings there, at least on my '00 4.7. the rings are like $2 for a whole package of various sizes from autozone. problem is, unless the system is totally discharged, you are going to need to have it evacuated before you get in there. even then, you should have it evacuated after you replace the rings because the lines will have been opened and exposed to moisture, which will then freeze and ruin ac performance unless evacuated before a recharge.
if i were you and was going to have to go through all the hassle of evacuating the system, i'd replace all the rings, not just the ones that are leaking, and maybe even think about dropping $40 on a new drier, since you don't want to have to evacuate the system again in the future unless you absolutely have to.
