Message: I need to add freon to my 1998 dakota I think. Where is the low
side fitting located to add the freon? The only fitting I find that will
fit my new gaugaes is directly on top of the compressor. The
instructions that came with the gauges I bought at Auto Zone says
it should be on or near the fire wall. Can find anything in this area.
Kinda scared to hook it up to the top of compressor without being
sure. Thanks in advance for your help. Mitch, Pens, Fl

Message: I don't know where specifically the high side and low side are located at for your specific truck. the high and low sides are different size connectors. You can't mix the manifold guages from high to low side.
sounds right though, the low side feeds into the compressor and the high side comes from the compressor. If you think about it, the compressor does increase the pressure of the refridgerant so the high side comes FROM the compressor and the low side leads TO the compressor.
