Subject: 04 Fog Light Questions IP: Logged
Message: hey guys, i just got an 04 sxt, 3.7 four wheel drive, and it didnt have fog lights. i bought an aftermarket set, the same ones i have on my 98 sport, and im wondering if there is any way to wire them up to the factory harness. i know it doesnt have the correct switch or the relay, but the main wiring for them must be in the harness already. so theoretically, shouldnt you be able to find a used switch with a foglight position, throw in a fuse and relay, and hook the new lights into the harness where the factory fog lights would go? i know its a lot of messin around, but im anal about my trucks, and the less wires i have layin all over the engine compartment, the better. thanks for the help!

Message: I doubt very much you'll find extra unused wires
just waiting in the correct location for your
fog lights, 04sxt. Mine is a 02 without factory
fogs. I installed my own and I sure didn't find
anything the factory had ready for fog lights.
If you're after good looks under the hood with
your add on wiring, most auto parts stores sell
wire wrap just like the factory uses in rolls.

Message: i installed aftermarket foglights on my '00 and other than the switch and it's location, no one would know it wasn't a factory install. do as Radioman said and buy some of that wire wrap from a parts house. it works great.
if there were any factory plugs on your harness you'd probably see them tied up in the harness somewhere around the bottom of the radiator support.

Message: there are two, 2-wire plugs, one on each side of the radiatior towards the bottom, about where the factory fog lights would hook up. That's why i was asking. and like i said in the original post, why would dodge make 12 different wiring harnesses? it's much more cost efficient to make all the wiring harnesses set up for all the options, then just leave the main components for those options off the vehicle. i removed my door panels to install memphis door speakers, and there are two wires that run up to my door locks, and just end with a plug. an educated guess would be that it's for power locks. but those werent installed on my particular vehicle, so it's just the wires. im gonna try and find a cheap stock light switch with the fog light position on it, plug in an extra fuse and relay, and see if i get juice to these extra plugs.
