Subject: high idle when cold
IP: Logged

Message:
When I start my truck up (2002 QC 4x4 4.7L) when the engine is cold, it idles high and erratically. I've seen it hit as high as 1700 RPM. It does this anytime when the engine is cold (first trip of the day or when I start it to head home after work).

Even if it's still cold (not normal operating temp) and i shift into gear (park or reverse) it still idles high, but not as high as in netural.

I have not seen any problems with idle in park or gear thus far after the engine has warmed up. I will check when i get home from work and see how it does.

It's not related to air temp, it does it when the air temp is cooler or hot (65-110 deg based on temp from overhead console). I park outside at home and the afternoon /evening sun hits the truck and i park in a parking garage at work.

no codes a thrown.
