Message: One time I traced the problem to the cranksensor but replacing it didn't work. The real culprit was the wire running from the crank sensor. It was pinched and shorting out as the engine warmed up.

Message: it ended up being the pcm sending too much voltage to the coil and blowing it out. replacing both solved the problem for now, until the truck breaks again.
