Message: Anyone have any good or bad opinions on Pep Boy's ProStart Alternators. I recently purchased a supposedly new ProStart alternator for $140 w/lifetime warranty. Other choice was a reman Bosch for $120. Wondering if I should have paid the premium for the MOPAR. What say you'all?

Message: Personal thought I stay away from daisy chain autoparts I feel that they get alot more accesories for your car or truck, like clothing store for a woman many things to choose from other what you want they do but do you get a good part or take a chance seen it many of times.Better to go to replace in your area that specialize in paticular part your replacing or need rebuilding, might pay and go out of your way for drive but satisfied you got what you want 1st time around.Dealer is good refernece but again $$$.Everything is avaiable at our hands its seems to be wallet issue to most pepole I've worked with in the years they always want something for nothing or little to go along ways in the long haul. Good Luck..

Message: Doesn't matter much who you buy rebuilt from. They buy from who ever is cheapest for there profit. Cheapest is determined by the parts NOT CHANGED during the rebuild. They change wear parts that are shot only. This way they can be competitive. Your only smart way to go rebuild is to have the ability to do it yourself, not that hard, or a re builder that you can trust to do the job as you direct them to. Meaning to replace brushes, bearings at both ends, bad diodes are a given and turn the commentator .Myself, I have a lath so I can do the intire rebuild correctly.

Message: Thx for opinions guy's. I had little choice in buying the alternator since it was a Sunday and few auto parts stores are open. Wife wanted the truck fixed immediately as the inlaws were in town and she needed the wheels. The alternator I bought is supposed to be new, not remanufactured or rebuilt. I'm keeping my fingers crossed but so far its working.
