my friends are part of this team called select few. the are those guys who do the crazy wheelies and stunts on the crotch rockets. well they have an upcomming show at the rockford speedway so they were out practicing at the track.

after video taping for a few hours it was dark and they wanted to see some "hot laps" with my truck. and of coarse i was all for it. so im out there rippin this prolly 3/4 miles oval with the sweet banked turns. this camaro started abotu a half a lap behind me and it took him about 5 laps to get past me.

well i was beatin on the truck good. then after about 6-7 leaps i go and pop the hood and my headers are GLOWING RED. whats with. i know its cause its running lean but what can i do to fix it?

99 RC 318. cam intake exhause bored 30 over and so on.

Running it hard while lean is a bad thing. Good way to melt a piston top.

Sounds liek you need a custom chip burned on a dyno. Expensiove, but necessary.

Since you've made a lot of changes, the stock or Mopar performance PCM can't adjust for that. Check around in your area for someone with a dyno and the proper equipment to burn you a custom chip.

The stock O2 sensor will only affect light load and partial throttle mixture. And it's a pretty narrow adjustment band. It can only sense that arear right around 14.7. Under a load you want something closer to 13-13.5.
