Message: my motor is bored .030. that is like nothing. i took a stock piston and put it against the bored piston and you can barely tell the difference.BARELY. and i had the samemilage before the rebuild. so i dont think its the bore that killed my gas milage. my dad has a 95 RC ram with a 360 and he gets the same milage. his is all stock with 392 gears and 33s

Message: any size other than stock tires will not give you
the proper MPG calculations unless the speedo has been recalibrated for the new size.
33inch tire will make you believe you are getting better MPG's

Message: Good point "dude"...might I add that when I calculated my mileage up, I also calculated in the difference in tire sizes. And actually, larger tires will show worse gas mileage...less rotations...less miles per tank of gas.

Message: "dude",I failed to mention that I recalibrated my speedo with the superchips tuner, so in fact my 20.2 mpg should be spot on.

Message: 1999 5.2 liter club cab, 5 speed, 4x4 with factory 31x10.50R15 tires, 3.55 gears. All of my gas mileage numbers are calculated with every fillup.
I've got a modified air intake and a Flowmaster 40 series single in/out muffler with the factory piping.
I get around 15.7 to 16.2 mpg in town and 18.5 on the highway.
I had to put my factory airbox back on recently for state inspection, I left it on for a tank of gas. My gas mileage dropped to 14.7mpg, that was the first time this year I had gotten below 15mpg.
I am hoping with a straight through muffler like a Magnaflow I can get my mileage up a little better by like 1.2 mpg or so.
