Holy sheep sh*t!
I was bummed we hit about $3.05 here.

I don't sweat it in the Dak one bit because I only drive it after work IF I need to and still rip on it. Got a company truck to drive home :)

However.... we are planning on driving the old Motorhome pulling the trailer up to Flagstaff this next memorial Day weekend!
A 454 that gets 5 to 6MPG average when pulling the trailer! Yup. $250 in GAS ALONE on that weekend! :(

Never made any sense to me why areas that produce or refine gas don't have lower prices. The Netherlands is the world headquarters for BP and Shell. I stayed across from what appears to be refineries..and yet they have the highest gas prices in the world.

$3.469 southeast of Maple Valley WA. Last year at this time it was $1.00 lower.
Taking delivery on a Prius end of month these prices are killing me with the daily 72 mile round trip commute.

To Joe C.- If you would pull your head out of your donkey talking points, you would see that neither party has done a thing to improve supplys. Its been thirty years without a new refinery being built. Neither party has made sure new ones were coming on line. The greens make sure that no new drilling-pipeline- or refinerys are allowed and BOTH partys sit and bitch. We yelled about gas prices ten years ago and nothing was done. Here we are again. So- Have your congressman hand the oil companys the permits to build new refinerys, then DEMAND that they be on line in ONE year. If not- Fine the devil out of them. But CONGRESS has to open the way!! Write them-I do.

True, there have been no new refineries built, but there were expansions. Over all the industry, the expansions of existing refineries equaled one new refinery.

The big issues with why no new refineries is because of government regulation and cost. Not just cost of material and labor, but all the pre-work. They have to pay lobbyist to get congressional support, pay for the environmental studies, pay for the site surveys, pay to find out where the most economical location (state/city) would be. Then pay the lobbyist to sway the state/local governments to get approvals to build. It is billions of dollars to build a new refinery.

gas here in Alberta right now 113.9 a liter canadian wich is 3.00 american per gallon and supposed to go up as much as 130 by next week so just because we make fuel here doesn't mean we get any kinda break either they all seem to regulate it according to what is happening in Iraq for some reason, before the war gas here was 59.9 a liter wich is 158 a gallon in America so i say nuke the bastards and let's get on with cheap gas again.

Oil companies would not build new refineries if allowed. They want to run them at 90+ percent capacity, so they have allowed them to deteriorate and shut down some. Now they are slowly expanding the existing ones, which is allowed under existing permits and laws. But they have no incentive to increase refinery capacity any more than what they have so far. They're not in business to help you out.
