my truck is pretty modded out. way faster than the stock CC dak i raced today. but once i hit 110 it stops. there is nothing eles after that. maybe 112-113 down hill but nothin. i have a mopar pcm and it removed the speed limiter. why the heck am i stuck with this pussy 110 mph. my friend said he has his needle peged on his 92. that was past 120. and it was mostly stock.

Not enought throttle pedal travel. Cut the foorboard out underneath, and recess the floor about an inch. Should get you up around 130 - 140.

i'd like to know where you guys can drive that fast for 2 reasons.
#1 if i tried to drive that fast around here i would sure enough wind up in jail.

I have pegged mine out... but the speedo was acting up. :( I have shut it off before in short distances.

You read about high speed drivers KILLING them selfs and more important killing others including kids. This happens day in and day out every day. Most drivers doing the KILLING think there to good or to smart for this to happen to them. They think it only happens to others . Guess what. To the others YOU ARE THE OTHER. Slow down and live. Better yet let others live. Drive as fast as you want but PLEASE do it on a track or race strip.

soo anyways... how bout that top speed? today i got to 100 in 3rd "over drive off" and i shifted into 4th at about 5200 rpm. then i ran out of room.
i just rebuilt the motor and gave ita 500 mile break in. but maybe its just startin to break in and its got some more potential. who knows.

My top speed so far is 137.5 measured on a Garmin gps. I do it on a stretch of freeway that is 14 miles between exits and you rarely see another car at 6am on weekends. I would estimate the danger I represent to other people as the equivilent of doing 35 in a 30 on a busy city street and don't tell me none of you have done that or more. Not all of live where the only place to go fast is a city freeway where driving 65 is considered fast.

Your top speed could be restricted by gearing; or by fuel or air flow being restricted - a few things for you to consider, but not the only possibilties.

its stock gearing and i have exhaust intake MP1 intake manifold and polished heads. i dont think flow is a problem. i got too 100 in 3rd again but ran out of room. im ganna try holdin it in 3rd and see what happens. its kinda like a wind barier. idk its weird. thanks for the advice.

So, you think all stock gearing is the same ? It's not; more than one ratio was offered and that's one reason why you can't expect yours to be the same as someone else's when you aren't aware of this stuff. Also, why are you disregarding a flow problem, have you measured it ? Lack of top end is one of the first things seen with restricted fuel flow.

clint, if you are "running out of room" you shouldn't be doing this. You should have several miles of unobstructed view and zero traffic.
You give very little information other than running out of room. Sounds like you have a speed limiter. Look in your glove compartment and see what your gear ration is. If you can do 5200 in third you should be able to come close to that in 4th but you don't say what your rpm's are in 4th.

it has 355 gearing and i know they arent all the same. but most have 355 gearing correct? then that means i should be able to go as fast as most.
i dont have a limiter cause i have a mopar pcm. wich eliminates the speed limiter and raises the rev limiter to 6k.
i live out in the country. there are plenty of roads that streach for miles on end with no cars in sight. some are just shorter than other and since im NOT AN IDIOT i slow down far before the stop sign.
yes it is an automatic. last time i had the room i was only able to get too 4500 rpm in 4th and it just sat there. it didnt get cut off or anything it just sat at 115mph and 4500rpm and woulnt go any faster.
how can i check fuel flow?

Something doesn't make sense. With 30" tires, 3.55 gears, in OD, I'm only turning about 4000 at 135 mph. You shouldn't have any problem hitting 4500 in OD. With 235/70/15 tires you are only turning 4300 rpm at 135 mph. What size tires are you running?

i have r/t wheels. im runnin 245/65/17. and i turn 115 at 4500.
like i said somtihn dont make sense. i dont understand why i can only hit 115 with all the mods i have. the onlything stock on the motor is the lower end. and that was just rebuilt.

With an OD ratio of .75 you should only be turning 3500 rpm and without OD and a 1:1 ratio you are turning 4600 which is about what you are telling us. Like I said, put it in OD and go again.
With the right tires I might give it a go at 145-150. I'll also be looking at the entire front steering and suspension before undertaking that adventure. A nice cool morning with low humidity wouldn't hurt either.

w/out over drive im turning 100 at 5200 rpm.
and what do you have done to your truck to go 150?

Hmm... before I swapped my gears doing 140-ish was no problem. (don't want to hear the crap about other drivers, I don't do it around traffic.. we have something called a second driver watching up ahead and cell phones / CB Radios).
Since swapping the 4.56 gears I feel like I never need to go over 80MPH. :p

thats with the 4.7 though. i have the 318. i raced a stock dakota 318 with just a flowmaster and i wasted him. it wasnt even a race. once we got over 100 he stayed a solid 7-8 cars behind me. i didnt gain or loose any ground once we past 100.
how do you guys know your doin 135-140? just guessing? cause me speedo only goes to 120.
