Subject: Had my truck fixed, parts missing IP: Logged
Message: HELP!
I had a minor accident (<10mph hit the back of a plastic car at a stop light, ripped off the lower bumper w/fog lights and flexed the AC condenser/radiator) with my 02 Quad cab, and my insurance company chose the body shop... A chevy place!!! But that is not the issue. When I picked it up and popped the hood, there was the new AC condenser, radiator, but it looked diffrent... Could not quite place it. Opened the cab and found one rubber part on the floorboard. The Friggin tech told me it was an "extra" part... Now I am thinking this peice of rubber is a guard that goes on the left side of the radiator. But there is no right one?!? It is missing..
So the question is, what are these called? Are there two? One on each side of the radiator, tacked to the frame (obvious holes for the plastic push fasteners on both sides)? I really want to replace them since the grill looks ugly without them. Plus, I do not think having my cooling lines and all that exposed to get iced up makes much sense at all. Any help is appreciated... I am so sad my truck is "damaged"...
Thanks!

Message: My truck only came with the right one, and many of us have removed it for a bit more cool air. I suspect you are calling the sides backwards; we figure left and right as if seated in the vehicle. Probably a bit more weather protection if you want to put it back on, that's up to you. If the rest of the truck got fixed okay, this is pretty minor.

Message: Thanks, I probably do have it reversed. I have the passenger side one in the bed at the moment. So the driver side did not have one?
You have been driving it without any issues? That was my concern, having parts exposed to rock kickup, ice caking, etc. But if people say that it is not that big of a deal... good to know.
Yeah, the truck is beautiful. No metal damage or frame. My truck went over the little car. They replaced the chrome bumper, but there was not a scratch on it. I love the silver, since it holds up pretty well to dings, etc. I am just a bit anal, I would have liked all the parts put back in place that it came in with, but overall I would give them a 9 out of 10 for good job.
Anyone put a push bar or anything to prevent this sort of "under the bumper" damage and have it work?
Thanks again for the help.

Message: Yeah, they don't come with one on the left side. Took mine off 5 or 6 years ago, no problem. There's all kinds of bars out there; but sometimes it's just better to avoid hitting people... ;-)
