Message: I heard that most cars that broke track records or hold top records are automatics, is that true? if so then why such a hype with manuals?

Message: Manuals may have less parasitic power loss, but are harder to launch consistently.

Message: If were talking about funny cars, good luck manual shifting through a few gears and concentrating on keeping a serious dragster straight down the track in under 6 seconds. It sounds insane enough using an automatic.

Message: Like mentioned above... automatics are great for consistently launching the vehicle, but I do think that manuals are much funner to drive.
