how do you get the 1987 3.9L egr light to reset i tried the battery and yes i changed and cleaned the egr/intake?

plastering this same thing on all boards is not going to help. you'll have answers on all different posts and never be able to find it.
you'll probably have to have it reset with some kind of scantool either at the dealer or an independent shop.

If I remember correctly there is a button to push on some little box somewhere - in or near the dash I think - long time ago!

I found the reset button YES thank you for your help.No scan tool needed it is an 87 after all.

Glad to help. Long time since I reset one :)
