Message: I am pretty sure that you can not adjust timing. The computer keeps timing all to itself. Thanks.

Message: hey clint
no its not like a chevy 350
if you go turning the dist. on these motors you do nothing to the timing
but it will however screw your fuel injection sync up and then will need to be set with a scanner

Message: then how do i set it? right now the harmonic balancer was set at TDC #1 cylinder and the distributer is set so the rotor is at the #1 wire.
either way i have no spark. we went to start the motor today and we got no spark. it turns over good and is gettig fuel but nothing is going to the coil. i have no codes or anything as of right now. any ideas?

Message: you dont!
its all done by the pcm
where the rotor is pointing has nothing to do with timing on these motors!
but has everything to do with fuel injector sync!
and if you all ready turned the dist. shaft
then you all ready threw off the fuel injector sync!

Message: what the hell do you mean the rotor has nothing to do with the timing? i you have the rotor pointing at the #3 cylinder and its at TDC for #1 that means the timing is off.
I REBUILT THE ENTIRE MOTOR. there was no way not to change where the distributor was. the motor has not run yet. so i havnt messed with the distributor. now how do i set the timing?
and how dose the distributor have anything to do with the injectors? just wondering.

Message: LOL Rammer had his rotor 180 out of sync and it would do nothing but pop and sputter LOL!
The distributor on a Dodge only drops in two ways. Correct, or 180 out. Granted the timing hear to the pump is in the right way with the cam, etc.
WHile the PCM adjusts (retards) timing, you DO have to have the rotor aligned with each correct spark plug wire for the firing to be correct and timed properly! Liek clint said, you can't have it at TDC and wire the #3 wire where the rotor is aimed and ever expect it to start!
Clint. We are about to pull Rammer's 318 for a 360 within the next week. Then I'll see and remember how these get dropped in :D

Message: thanks alot. but i only have next week left for school.
thanks for backin me up. i dont think he understood what i was saying. i have the dist. correct with the cam and what not. but after i start it what do i do? or dose the pcm do the work?
also we have no spark. the coil isnt getting any power. with the volt meter on the feed to the coil it jumps to 15 when we turn the key on. after that nothing happens. it stays at zero.
i konw your good with this stuff graphite. what do you think. also what originaly caused me to blow the motor was the 1.7 rockers i bought off rammer. idk how but it blew out a piston. i have 4.55 of lift with my cam so when i put the new rockers on every valve hit the pistons. but the #6 piston was shot. so i rebuilt the entire thing and bored it 30 over. also reinstalled the stock rockers lol.

Message: Without the CPS Sensor hooked up the engine is NOT going to start or run. It must be hooked up or the CPU thinks the crank is out of time. My CPS went ouy and it died took me three days to find it. It's a real pain in the @ss...

Message: the timing is right. and the CPS is hooked up. i will check the connections on it tomarrow. but i have no power going to the coil.
there is no power running to the coil. i checked it with a volt meter and when i turn the key on it jumps to 15 volts and back to 0. it stays at 0 while i turn it over
im going to check the "auto shutdown" fuse thing in the fuse box under the hood. i was told that cuts power to the coil.
