Subject: Performance Brakes? IP: Logged
Message: Anybody know if there is a brake kit out there for our trucks? I'd like to have better calipers overall. Don't know if its just me but the brakes on my 98 2wd just dont live up to my expectations for a truck. I know I can buy drilled and/or slotted rotors but I'd really like to see if I can get everything together, possibly cheaper. if anyone knows of a good site please post. thanks

Message: I have the SSBC rear disc conversion on my '01 RC. It made a bigger difference in the braking performance than I would have thought. I bought mine several years ago for around $500. They had a price increase this year; not sure now. www.ssbrakes.com One alternative is a rear end swap from any 2003 Dakota with standard rear disc brakes.

Message: Buy a good set of aftermarket pads, like Porterfield or Hawk. Resurface the rotors, and bed the new pads in very carefully. That simple change usually makes a big improvement for a small investment.
