Subject: Gluing on an emblem... IP: Logged
Message: Okay, my brother put on this light up emblem on my 97 a while
ago. I just recently took it off because the weather got to it and it
started to get nasty. I have the original emblem of the truck and
i'm just wondering what type of glue I should use to put the old
one back on. Any suggestions?

Message: Go to your local autopaint supply company in your area take your emblem with you tell the sales counter what you want to do and they will hook you up whats safe so you don't destroy your paint finish up. I worked in a collison shop for a few yrs. and we used this thin 2 way tape also we used special glue adhesive depending on car or truck what it came off with . Good Luck..

Message: There is special automotive grade double sided tape that is heavier duty than the regular stuff.

Message: The two-sided tape I'am refering to is used for automoive applications not the stuff you see at hardware our certain department stores that carry , that why I said go to your autopaint supplier in your area have what your looking for and I'am not trying to step on your feet Kowalski ,just know from being previous employee at collsion shop.

Message: Maybe?? might carry, another thought I can think you can right to collison repair shop they might give you something for free or small cost if any . Just be careful thats its safe for your paint finish I've seen people use the wrong adhesisive and eat the paint finish right off and certain tapes that don't hold up to the elements and falls off . Dealership collison shop another thought.

Message: PETE - no problem, not trying to step on your toes either - just wanted to make sure he knew there was a better grade to look for. Easily available if you look for it; I think I've even seen it at Walmart. Used some to hold the rubber molding I added to the top of my bed rails when the original adhesive started to give up. Its held well for a couple years now, holding black rubber that heats up from the sun. Credit goes to you for mentioning it first...
