I just bought a '93 Dakota Sport, 3.9 V6, 5 speed, 2wd. Excellent price, but needs a little work. First, exhaust. It seems to be hard to find 2 3/4" and 3" pipe and connectors, is there a chain store that carries it? My first stop was Advance, and they claim they can't even order anything bigger than 2 1/2". I'd need to go farther, but I can get to Auto Zone, Napa, Pep Boys, and a few others if I need to. Do any of these normally stock the larger pipe?

Next, there's a gas leak right about under the driver's door(pinhole), but it only seems to leak for a minute or so after running, and possibly during running. Is this a common problem with an easy fix?

It's got a fiberglass tonneau cover, like the giant trunklid type, but the cylinders that hold it up are missing. How hard are these to find?

It's blue with 2 wide white stripes running the length of the truck, including the tonneau cover. Is this factory? Could the cover itself be factory?

Thank you for any help.

on the 3.9's you dont wont to go over 2 1/2 on the exhaust pipes
make a post on the v6 board
ask Larry of J&J auto
he is a wiz the these motors
and has 2 stroker 3.9's

anyway he and many of the guys can tell you
going with a larger pipe you lose bottom end trq
and end up very unhappy
keeping the stock diam. pipes and going with a high flow cat and high flow muffler of your choice works best on them

Thank you. I ended up getting 2 1/2" pipe anyway, it was the closest size I could find.

And a much better size than what you thought you wanted. Problems with gas and brake lines can be expected for vehilcles of that vintage, especially in the northern "rust belt". Most likely damage due to corrosion, you need to look to see how much is damaged and needs to be replaced.
