Subject: Recommended radar detector... IP: Logged
Message: Still burning after getting a ticket this morning (haven't gotten one in 10 years), so now I'm thinking it's time to get a radar detector for the next time my own eyes don't see the cop...
Recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks.

Message: I've had a BEL and now have a Valentine 1. By far IMHO it's the best. I'm trying to figure out how to remove the overhead console to hard wire it in there. I have it mounted over the mirror. It fits nicely and is out of the way and out of sight.
Anybody know how the console is removed?

Message: I bought a Uniden for under $100 years ago and it has paid for itself 10X over. Just make sure you get one that can tell you if it is X (grocery store door) or a real cop.

Message: have you considered a radar jammer. It will deflect the radar signals so they wont be able to clock you

Message: Heh.. too bad the Valentine 1 got SPANKED by both the Escort 8500 and the BEL 980 in tests...LOL
Don't believe it.. check here: http://www.radartest.com/DS4HEM.html
As quoted from the article:
"Still capable of putting up a good show against X and K-band radar and lasers, with its stratospheric price tag, minimal features and quirky ergonomics the V1 is an also-ran compared to modern detectors. Celebrating its tenth birthday next year, making it the oldest model on the market, the V1 is clearly showing its age."

pretty serious offense - you would be waaay
better off getting the da*n speeding ticket....

Message: Well... so far so good with my BEL. It picks up cops like nobody's business and it didn't cost quite as much as an equivalent Escort or V1.

Message: the v1 does a few extra things as wee....integral rear facing sensor and bogey counter plus they offer remote display for stealth operations...if you are concerned with cost a V1 may not be for you!

Message: I have the Escort 8500 and really like it. (I haven't had any of the others.)
The Escort has many programable features. I like the features that allow you to: turn off the noisy start up tones and vary the intensity of (or turn off) the warning displays.
I got the direct wire harness and have mine mounted to the right of the rear view mirror just barely below the heavy windshield tint line. I placed the wiring between the headliner and roof so there is no wire showing. It is virtually un detectable from the outside.
It has "come through" for me many times.
