Subject: foglight mounts? IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2000 Dakota that has the openings for foglights in the lower front valence, and I have some aftermarket lights that I want to mount, but there appears to be something missing. The aluminum beam that goes across the front of the truck has 2 holes on each side above where the foglights mount, but when using one of the original foglight brackets or the new ones, neither will extend down far enough to the hole in the valence, leading me to believe that a mounting plate is missing. Is this the case, or am I just misunderstanding the mounting arrangement? If there is a mounting plate, is there a part number for it, as the printout of the front hardware from Dodge shows the 2 holes, but not the plate.

Message: Ran into the same thing with my 02, arobert.
It seems that if the truck didn't come with
factory installed fog (running) lights, you were
out of luck buying the mounts from the
stealerships.
I ended up fabbing my own. It's easier than you
think. The aftermarket lights come with mounts
and I just went from there to modify them to work
on the Dakota.
Good luck..

Message: arobert the foglamp assy includes the bracket to mount the in the correct place. its part of the lamp assy when you buy it but doesn't have a seperate part number. i can send you the parts bool page if you want to see the lamp just let me know. you might get lucky if you can find a pair of factory lamps in a recycler or used on ebay. let me know if you want the parts page. one other possibility I think PIAA makes a factory fit set of foglamps for the Dakota-Durango check their website to see them its their 510 series lamps

Message: My Dak came with fog lights, but when I bought it (100,000 miles on it),one fog light had been replaced and the other was factory original. The factory original fog light had went out and had a foggy nasty looking lens cover. I found the whole assembly on partstrain.com. I purchased one, received it a few days later, and it bolted right up. This may not be your situation at all, since your Dak lacked fog lights from the factory, but you could look there. BTW the fog light assy's were $53.38 a piece!! (incl. tax and shipping)

Message: I probably need to clarify a couple of points: first, the truck DID come with the factory foglights installed, but after the left front FL was broken trying to push a stranded car out of traffic (silly me), I removed both to replace them. Then I had a right rear tire come apart on me and bend up the wheel well, and while it was in the shop being repaired, the mounting plates were stolen. Something that I didnt discover until I went to replace the FLs way after the fact :(

Message: Sorry, dude. I hate a thief. Some people are as morally immature as apes. I have a similar problem with a different part. The light bulbs went out on my heat-A/C controls. I took it all apart and found the blown bulbs-3 of them. I can't find replacement bulbs for them anywhere. All the fuses are good. If/when I do find the bulbs, I hope that's all of the problem and not some other electrical problem. It's a real pain to have to turn on the interior light every time I want to adjust the heat or A/C.
