Message: I have sort of posted this before, but a change was made since the last post. I have a '93 Dakota that is a CC 4WD 3.9 Automatic. I while back, the rear brakes started making noise, so I replaced them. The noise went away for a while, but then came back. I tried adjusting them a bunch of times, but it didn't work. They really only make a lot of noise after being driven in the rain or snow and then sitting for a while. They then howled at every stop for miles. I lived with this for quite some time. Then, I decided to take it to a shop to have them look at it. They said that the parking brake was locked on and they could either replace it or free it up. I had them free it up. The noise was gone again for a while, but came back again. By the way, I never use the parking brake. I again lived with the noise, but it got worse, so I took it to another shop and they said that the parking brake was dragging and wearing out the shoes and drums. They redid the drums and disconnected the parking brake. The noise was again gone for a while, but came back. I recently purchased a new dakota, but kept the old one. It sat for about a month and then I decided to drive it again. I started it up and pushed the gas down and it was like the parking brake was on. The brakes were so locked up that the truck almost couldn't move.
If it isn't the parking brake anymore, then what else could it be?
Any ideas?
Thanks
