I could push another 12k out of the clutch but no. After 188k on oem clutch I need to do something. So , not presently working I will be doing as much as I can.
Low mileage salvage yard unit?
Clutch kit repacement ? Sychros? Throwout bearing? ( Am I missing anything else )?
Any part/kit #'s and websites would be appreciated.
Thanks in Advance

Message: Sync roes are inside the tranny. They have nothing to do with the clutch. To install a used clutch is possible but not Recommended by me at all. You also never never install a rebuilt clutch plate. You most likely either will need your flywheel resurfaced or replaced if there are any cracks. Also the pilot bearing and throw out bearing. You never take a short cut on clutches. It will either work badly or another not replaced part will fail. No money????? Get a credit card that has 6 months or so with no payments and get busy paying on it right off. Reason is,if you wait 6 months to start paying they will charge you interest on those months.

What I ment was a new clutch kit,or that and a low mileage trans unit. I'm just thinking if I have it out and a reasonably priced low mileage unit is available. That might be an option.
As far as the sycros... shifting has been sloppy and a shop said with the high mileage it would be a good idea to inspect and correct.
I just want repair it right so I can another 188k out of it .LOL . Shops around here want 650-900 dollars for a clutch replacement . I found some full clutch kits from 180-400 dollars, will have to check machine shops for resurfacing pricing.
I know I'll need a little direction after I get going. I'll keep you posted.

Message: Bad synchros cause grinding, not sloppy shifting. Check the bushings on the shift linkage - cheap to fix.

Message: Thanks Bob
I have had the missed shift causing a wee bit of grind. Only when the foot and the hand aren't playing well together.
If the sycros were bad or on there way out, would gear grinding be an everyday occurance?
Right now I'm having mild difficulty getting into 1st more often than I'd prefer.(have to rattle through R,3rd,2nd, and up to 1st.
The horn and finger from behind doesn't help much either. LOL

Message: The difficulty getting into gear may well be synchros. If you put it in 1st and then start the engine with clutch fully depressed and it wants to leap forward, it's the throwout bearing. In either case, you'd replace the clutch and resurface or replace flywheel.

Not having the forward leap. YET!!!
Just getting into first from full stop. It's been slowly happening since 160k or so.
