Subject: Rear Bumber Removal - how to? IP: Logged
Message: 2002 2x4 Club Cab Sport.
My rear bumber is getting grossly rusty living up here in Canadian winters!
I'd like to remove it and bring it in to a body shop to have it sand blasted and refinished. How do you go about removing it? How many bolts are there and where are they located?
Is it a pain in the ass job to take off?
Thanks for the help!

Message: This is one of the easiest things to do.
Disconnect the license plate lamps at the connectors.
Apply the correct size wrench in the counterclockwise direction to all the bolts holding the bumper brackets to the frame.
If you would climb under the back end of the truck, you should be able to figure it out, if you have some mechanical aptitude.

Message: There are six 18mm nuts, three each side.
If you have a hitch receiver, put your hitch in. This will support the bumper after it's no longer held on by the bolts. Otherwise you'll need one or two helpers holding onto it so it wont' fall on you. That would hurt.
