Message: How much can my 8.25" rear end from my 03 Dakota handle? What will I have to replace for it to handle high TQ numbers? How much would it be able to handle w/ the replaced parts? Thanks

Message: I put over 40 low 7 second 1/8th mile (mid 11's in the 1/4) passes on my 8 1/4. It had Moser axles, 4.10 gears with a sure-grip unit and a LPW diff cover with bearing cap supports. These passes were with slicks. I never had any problems at all with the rear. Now after seeing my friend break a axle in his mustang I decided to go with something without c-clips. I swapped out to a 8 3/4 and lost a tenth of ET.

Message: They're the only thing holding the axle shafts in place. Fine for street vehicles, bad for serious racetrack duty. You can mod the rear with C-clip eliminators on the 8 1/4 and 9 1/4. Otherwise, go with the 8 3/4 or Dana 60.
