about 2 years ago, i had gotten some water in the front differential. 2 months after that, the spider gears sheared right off the pin. it looked like they had welded themselves to it. i went out, and got all new yukon gears, and put them in. from the looks of it, i used the correct amount of shims to get the job done right. this past weekend i took the truck offroad a little bit. funny thing is i didnt really beat it. no excessive tire spin or anything, just a few small hill climbs. anyways, i was going up this one hill, and when i got halfway up, the truck just started rolling backwards, because i wasnt getting any power to the front wheels.

after driving back, i took the cover off it and discovered that the pin was disintegrated, along with one of the spider gears, the other spider gear was damaged, a chunk of the ring gear busted off, a piece of the pinion, and part of the differential all ended up in the bottom of the case. I noticed that when put under load, I was getting weird clanging sounds from the front end for quite a while if not right after the new gears were put in.

My question is WHY? are dodge front ends really this pathetic? or is this an isolated incident? does this have anything to do with the water from 2 years ago?

Also, if someone has one for sale, or knows someone that does, let me know via this board.
