Subject: Inner tie rod question IP: Logged
Message: 2000 4.7 2wd. I'm going to put on new inner tie rods. What do I use to replace the metal band on the rubber bellows boot? A CV joint banding tool? What kind? I'm pretty clueless about this.

Message: I haven't really seen the boot, but wouldn't a hose clamp work? They make them small to really big.

Message: The tie rod ends come with the boots installed. There is nothing to band. If you are adding something to the boot as some precautionary measure (I personally have never had one come loose) you could use safety wire around the base.
