 Subject: helicoil kit for caliper bolts?

Anyone know what size threads are tapped into the spindle where the caliper mounts to? both my calipers are "floating" and the noise is pretty annoying, not to mention makes me worry about brake performance. I think someone said it has 9mm threads, and someone else said its a really weird size. If it comes down to it I'll just pull a bolt out, get a ride to the store, and check the thread size on it. any feedback welcome. I know this is a common problem.

9mm X 1.25 thread pitch. i believe 9mm for sure just did mine. the kits are around just hard to find and not that cheap

I want to install helicoils because my caliper is "floating" meaning that the bolts that hold them in place were over-torqued and pulled the little threads right out of the spindle. I admit to one of them but not the other 2 that are messed up.

helicoil kit 55496 M9x1.25 runs. Advance Auto Parts can get them, as can NAPA. Usually $36 - $45.
You are talking about the pins that calipers slide on correct? BTW, their is a TSB for this (somewhere) and the above is the recommended repair.

Thanks guys, definetly gonna order this kit ASAP today! I feel guilty lettin it go this long. and the sound the calipers make when I hit a bump is disgusting.

FYI, when you install a helicoil, they're actually stronger than the original internal thread that they replace. In otherwords, it will take more torque to strip them out. I,ve installed hundreds of them.
