Subject: engine codes IP: Logged
Message: I have 97 318. I did the on/off/on/off/on key thingy and it gave me "12" no P#### just the nuber 12. I brought it to Autozone where they attached their little handheld computer thing and told me cylinder #1 is misfiring.
Can someone enlighten me as to what this code might actually mean? Is there a different set of non "P" codes for the 1997 V8? Any help would be appreciated.

Message: that makes sense since i unpluggedd the #1 wire and checked it for wear and grime put it back on. didn't take the plug out because i didn't have my tools with me and drove home. the light was still on. i woke up early this morning so i could mess around with it before work. started it up; no "check engine" light.
where did you get that spark plug diagnosis from? the #12 or what autozone told me? if it's the #12, do you have the non-P codes or know where i can get them?
thanks
