Subject: cooant flush advice anyone?

looking to change my coolant, the procedure (from Haynes manual) seems too overloaded to do a basic collant flush - (remove and replace thrmostat, remove coolant from around engine block, etc.) It seemed simple on my old truck which wasn't a Dakota. Anyone just drained, then flushed, then rinsed, then added coolant without any future problems on these trucks?

My 2001 Dakota has no drain for the radiator. I suppose it could be drained by removing lower hose, but for the time and trouble involved, it was worth it to me to have the guys at Tires Plus flush and fill it. They have a machine that removed the old coolant, back-flushes the system and puts new coolant in. There's a lot lower chance of getting air bubbles in the cooling system that way too. It cost about $60.00, I think I had a coupon from their website. I also hung out behind the shop and talked with the tech while he flushed it. He did a good job of it. Money well spent to avoid the hassles of doing it myself, I think.

Thanx jimmy, took your advice, let Firestone do it for about 65.00.
