Message: Here is how I changed the evaporator core in my old 95. The heater core and evaporator core are both in the same housing. You may want to replace the evap core as a preventative measture while you have the housing out.
also, be sure to replace the o-rings. Also, I like the plastic disconnect tools (set of 4 for around $10, each one is a differnet color to indicate a different size hose) to disconnect the a/c hoses from the accumulator (receiver/dryer)- I did not like the scissor type. Also, you should change that too as it removes moisture from the a/c system. Once it's open, it'll start picking up moisture from the air.

Also, the haynes manual has some info on changing the heater core.
let me know what other questions you have and i'll try to help.

Message: Thanks Dan - I admittedly get a little nervous about disconnecting AC hoses - have never done that before. I'll check out the Haynes manual.

Message: Just have a shop evac the system. Once you are done replacing the core. Have a shop vac out the air. you can recharge it yourself or have a shop do that.
