Message: Technically, yes they will bolt on, but in terms of practicality and the effort to make it work (mods-- the older valvetrain components, oiling of the heads with shorter hollow pushrods, drilling of heads for the intake....there would be a port mismatch since the LA 318 heads have small ports), it's not the way to go. Also, it'd be a major drop in power. The usual trend is to upgrade from LA (pre-Magnum heads) to Magnum heads, not the reverse. Save yourself the pain and get the Magnum heads.

Message: Bigger ports means less meat in the heads. Cracking, as mileage adds up or excess heat is encountered, is common.

Message: aight ill check around for magnums. i didnt know they were that different. its just they were there.
i dont know how i cracked the head. my motor is being rebuild cause i blew out a piston and the other day the shop guy called me and told me i had a cracked hear. the block was cracked too "right at where the head bolt goes in" but its still usable. it only had 99k on it but i drive things hard. especially that one. it only took me 3 monts to blow it lol. the worst thing is that i ported and plished the heads already... damn. now i gotta start all over.
