Subject: Those recalled ball joints. IP: Logged
Message: I'm going to rebuild my front end. (2000 4.7 2wd) I haven't had my ball joints replaced yet. 80k on them, Florida, so no inspection. I know one's bad, but I digress. I'm going to replace virtually everything, all ball joints, tie rods, (ends and inners) bushings. I plan on using Moog's. My question is - How are the new upper ball joints holding up? Is there any benefit to just buying moog's for the uppers as the lowers will be moog's.

Message: I've got a '01 RC with 162K miles. I replaced the upper ball joints with greasable Moog joints at 120K. I've got about 140K on the 3" drop lower control arms ball joints. The tie rod ends and bushings are fine at this point. Usually those will hold up around 200K, unless you routinely slam potholes.

Message: My 02 upper balljoints were replaced (recall) at
around 20k. I have one go bad BEFORE the recall
at 10k.
It just turned 40k (Stored summers) and no
problems at all.
I still like greaseable fittings like my 79 AMC
has and NOTHING has been replaced on that thing.
Just my 2 cents..
