Subject: Code P0442 IP: Logged
Message: Followup to the truck stalling thread - everythihng is running fine again, but my engine light came back on. I have the P0442, and read that it might be a gas cap, or it might be the charcoal canister and hoses.
Where exactly is this canister located, and what does it look like?
I have an emissions test coming up as part of my vehicle registration, so I need to get this cleared up before then. When I fix the problem, either the gas cap, or the line, will I need to clear the code? Last time I did that, it caused my truck to stall on and off for about 20 miles, so I would rather not go through that again if possible.
Thanks!

Message: Canister under drivers side.Looks like a canister with hoses. After disconnecting neg battery terminal turn key all the way to start for 20-30 secs.Reconnect and let idle for at least a minute without touching the throttle.

Message: The canister is just forward of the fuel tank. It's a plastic rectangular thing with severai hoses attached.

Message: Awesome, thanks! I found it and I did indeed have a cracked hose. I taped it up, cleared the code, idled it, and all appears to be well.
