I just purchased an '04 Dakota with 4.7. Would like to change to a muffler with nicer sound and performance but don't want to get blown away in the cab. Considering Magnaflow and Speed Tech. Any feedback about these or others? Thanks in advance.

brett i have been trying to do the same myself, www.flowmaster.com has a nice web site where you can hear clips of the different kinds of mufflers that they make and they also try to explain how much noise your going to get in the cab, i have read alot of guys using there 40 series muffler and some saying there switchig to a 50 series to get a little less cab noise, i think im going with a 50 with it exiting under the bumper....hope this helps

Thanks...there seems to be a lot of folks who like the flowmaster 50 so I'll have to check that out in comparison to the magnaflow.

Brett,

Keep in mind that you really won't be adding any performance, not from just a cat back anyway.

On my 01 Quad Cab, I've had the third cat replaced with a straight pipe, keeping all the existing stock exhaust. NO codes, etc.

Professionally done, welded, $30, vs several hundred for a 'tone'.

Wouldn't you know it, much louder, mean low tone, NO cab drone, and NO red neck obnoxiously loud pipes.

My friends can't believe it's an all stock exhaust.

If you guys go with the Flowmaster mufflers, make sure you go with the DELTA FLOW...they are supposed to have the same outside noise with much less interior resonance.

I'd say 50 series delta flow unless you want it to sound pretty loud...then go with a 40 series delta flow.

Never heard of Speed Tech mufflers, but most Magnaflows I've heard sound kinda sh*tty. I think Borla's sound AMAZING on V8s. But last I saw, they ain't too cheap.
