Message: You heard that GM might be considering it, and that DC is looking at all options. GM is one potential buyer.

Message: Why ould GM merge with Chrysler? Both Chrysler and Ford are losing money and laying off employees. Chrysleer already merged a couple of times - once with American Motors/Jeep and with Daimler/Benz. And I believe they had Iszusu too not to mention Freightliner. Chrysler dealers also handle Mitsubishi sales here too. Seems like GM is doing okay on their own without taking on Chrysler's $$ problems.

Message: I've heard GM's new CEO is really turning the company around...for a while they were in some really deep sh!t though. Seems like most American car companies are being killed by the foreign competition these days...quite sad really.

Message: Well if the US auto makers would stop playing dard ass and make smaller fuel efficient cars that would be able to compete with foreign car makers they might have a chance. Look at chrylsler's line up for instance. How many smaller cars do they have? They did away with the Neon and replaced it with the Caliber, but most of their cars are SUV's, mini vans,or trucks, and of course their new era muscle cars. Same with ford and GM. People associate foreign cars with better fuel efficiency, more reliability, and better resale value, wheather it is true or not. Foreign makers have cheaper labor and can sell their cars for less, like Kia for instance. The US can put higher tariffs on the imports but then they start making or assembling their cars in the US to combat it. How many people here have imports as their family car?

Message: well think about it if the ceo is turning gm around and can buy chrysler (probably close to nothing) then they would start making better chrysler cars and turn them around to make bigger bank.

Message: Chrysler products are no worse then ford or GM. There just to locked up in the gas burners. Retooling is super pricey. This is the reason they re badge competition. Not doing this would force them to lock the doors unable to meet fuel requirements. Solving this problem creates a new one. To retaliate. Such as the Dakota badged as a foreign model and sold cheaper hurts business. There are other reasons but this is the biggy. Laying off hundreds and thousands of workers and closing up shop in some areas is a very temporary fix and only slows out flow of cash. It in no way generates more business. Every time They do a lay off there are setting them selfs up for another down the road a year or 2. You can sell the headache you constructed, Keep it and make needed downgrade as needed till you shut all doors or Bit the bullit and retool for smaller quality cars. Right or wrong, These are my opinions.

Message: Dodge's entry level vehicle used to be the Neon. Instead of a nice redesign (like Chevy did with the Cavalier to Cobalt), the Neon became the Caliber. The entry level Dakota is now a multi-door Club Cab; no more Regular Cabs. Mercedes vision of the American market seems a bit flawed. Dr.Z needs to look in the mirror.

Message: So what happend to Rick?? He's no longer the CEO and what about Rob Lutzs? I say make Bob the CEO of the company. Its a shame they put that sell off Eaton in charge of Chrysler years ago.
