Message: wll it seems that ford took a big $5 billon loss and was laying off workers, but now i read that chrysler will be laying off 13,000 workers and closing some plants and distribution centers in the US and Canada. Not suprisingly, they stated that they were caught flat footed by the gas crunch and that most of their vehicles were either trucks, SUVs, or minivans. Wonder if they will still go ahead with the Challenger? Maybe they will put in a v-6 instead of a hemi?

Message: No point at all. They are pushing performance and poor milage that comes with it. They are probably losing money because of it. I see all the Magnums, Chargers, and trucks on my local dealer's lot that are sitting unsold while more and more Japanese cars are flooding the streets. The V-6 will give people the cool car with better milage is all. And let's face it. If you were gonna drive on long trips you probably would want something that got better than 12 mpg.

Message: somehow i dont think a challenger would be ideal for a road trip
and a 5.7 hemi charger will get over 20 mpg on a highway trip
the domestic jsut cant keep uip with the asian companies for reliability and affordability

Message: I've always had good luck with the 4 Dodge trucks I've owned, but the '98 Neon was an absolute money pit compared to our Mazdas and Hondas. The Caliber really gets me. Who would want to buy that thing? Too much beer in sauerkraut in D-C board rooms.
