Message: Here's a small review on the new 2008 Dodge Dakota, with information on performance, features and models. Available is also a photo gallery with the car.
"Chrysler Group today unveiled the new 2008 Dodge Dakota mid-size truck with a new engine that not only offers 25 percent more horsepower and 10 percent more torque, but also better fuel economy and increased refinement. The 2008 Dodge Dakota also features new exterior and interior styling, and many best-in-class capabilities. The new truck arrives in dealerships in August..."

Message: Let's see...the old look didn't work so lets make it look like the
Nitro , 'cause that look is soooo popular.
The new dakota still lacks the ability to make the owner look back
at his truck as he walks away from it just to get another eyeful,
the mark of great styling.
Oh well, maybe when the gen V comes out in a few years they can
get it right.

Message: I can see a little honda in it, but then again, Honda stole the bull nose from dodge, as did everyone else, so it fits pretty well. I think that dodge could do better, but I do think it is an improvement over todays. To have a dakota with almost 300 hp would definitely be nice as well... I could ignore some of the drawkbacks. My only concern is that it will be 35K and not that different in price from a full size.

This is EXACTLY why I am loosing interest of this mid size truck
thing going on... They are not worth my money anymore it seems.

Message: the price of mid-size and full size trucks has gotten ridiculous. i remember back in '94 my dad ordered a 1995 Chevy S-10 LS, 4.3L (non-vortech) ext cab with a 5-spd 2wd, it cost $12k from the factory. i went to purchase almost the identical truck only a brand new 2003, it was up to $18.5K now these mid sizes are going for mid to high twenties and are only going to go up, full sizes are starting at $30K and i've seen F350's for well over $58K. the whole concept of a pick up truck is something bare bones on the luxury but will last forever and take abuse. Hell, that 95 S-10 which i inherited from my dad as a senior in high school gave me 4 good years and when i sold it for $300 it ran great still and had 236,000 on it. and i beat the piss out of that thing to!

Message: It is sad as far as price goes quad cab 4x4 v8 will be around $35k.... I dont like to make payments on anything that does not increase in value over time, there is just no acceptable way for me to justify coming up with that kind of cash for any truck unless it was a dump truck or something that would make my money back on it. What has happened over the past 10 years is that automakers realize that very few people can afford to buy a vehicle with cash and everything is now justified by the payment you can afford. So going from 20k to 27k to 33k is not hard to do if you can keep peoples payments in the $500-800 a month range on a new vehicle... its crazy to me. I will just stick with my old quad cab and complain about the good old days like I am an old fart.

Message: I find it hard to believe that dodge went from having a perfectly beautiful truck in 04 to having this straight edged horrible looking thing. What went wrong? I just can't see why anyone would want to buy one of those things, especially when like these other guys were saying the price makes it almost not even worth it to begin with.

Message: Like the design.Resembles Gen II.May be not so perfect as 97-04 ,but far better than actual one.
Engine with 290 hp is a nice surprise.I,m affraid that none of You have reached this power after intensive mods. Now You have it in standard. On the other side, why to put the Hemi if it is most powerfull in class anyway?(D-C point of view)When it comes to interior, was hoping that Dodge will change its plastic gray style.I can understand cheap materials, but designers should be involved more.Would advice some colour play at least on dash and door panels....(more black?)
How do You know it is going to cost 35 k ????I would bet it will be not more than 30k fully loaded. On the other side if some of You say 35 k,means it looks expensive .Is it that bad?.
"Like" this attitude -I'm not going to buy it,because of the price ,which I do not know.

Message: The power levels are almost up to 2001 5.9 standards. Not quite, but getting there. Styling is just OK. But than last year, but not as good as 2001. Still no small diesel option.
I think DC is in trouble with this product. They've taken some large steps backwards, and are still struggling to get back to where they were. Other manufactureres are continuing to make (small) steps foreward, leaving DC in the dust.
I love my '01 QC. I don't want a full size, and can't use a small one. But the new ones are too big of a step backwards for me to buy one. If something happened to my current truck, I'm afraid I'd be looking at a 2-3 year old F150 as a replacement.
