Subject: Blinker rates different...
IP: Logged

Message:
ON my 01 QC, SLT, etc.

My left turn signal blinks twice as fast as the right one.

I thought that meant a bulb was out, so I looked, front and rear, they still work, but each side is a different rate.

Any ideas how/why?

Why would each side be a different rate?

Check for corrosion at the bulb sockets. Could be high resistance due to corroded sockets and or damaged wiring. The culprit will be on the side that is slow.

double check your bulbs, you have dual bulbs in the front lamps. try putting the hazards on and compare both sides.

Rusty is probably right. Poor ground, poor contacts, corrosion in one of the sockets are your most likely culprits.

Thanks to all, I will check.

However, Rusty,

If my slow side is the normal speed side, why would that be the culprit? The problem is the driver side going 2-3 times as fast, as the normal side.

I still think you have a bulb out. Recheck your bulbs esp in the front much easier with the 4-way hazards on. fast blinking is almost aways a bad bulb/socket. dont forget the front signal lamps have 2 bulbs and look closely at them with the 4-ways on good luck and let us know what happens

TexasTodd...... The reason is the person saying that was wrong. Maybe just said it backwards. I have done this myself. But the real deal is your right. It's the fast side that is malfunctioning, not the one working at normal speed. The guys are most likely correct about the bulbs. I forgot about the duel bulbs in the front. I've never seen a badly grounded light that caused a bad function and still flash but I have seen them not grounding with NO FLASH. And again, The flasher unit may be the problem. Flashers have 2 circuits inside. One for the left side and one for the right. I have never seen one go bad on both sides at the same time. There is nothing hard about the fix reguardless which it is.

Texas Todd, your original posting didn't say the right side was blinking at normal speed. It said the left was blinking twice the speed of the right. I assumed that meant the right side was very slow compared to the normal speed. Wrong assumption on my part! I think everyone has given great suggestions - let us know what you find?

Just I had originally thought, one of the blinker lights is out.

I didn't notice it at first b/c didn't realize there are two lights to a side.

Thanks for the input to all.

Like that was hard to figure out. Instead of posting your stupid drivel you should have checked it out first. I guess now you can go out and run more people off of the road with your poor driving style.

I was having a blinker problem again, and I thought it might be the bulbs again.

I used the search engine, b/c I'm having the same problems with my blinkers now! I had forgotten I had posted, and fixed this earlier.

And, it seems the spammer was at it then too, only now I locked the screen name.
