Message: Who of you out there in Dakota land are running the BFGoodrich allterrin TA tires. Do you like them, are they noisy at highway/low speeds? Are they a comfy ride? Would you buy them again, would you recommend them to others?
I have an 02 4x4 and will be needing new skins soon, and I am considering the BFGoodrich's , although they are kinda pricy.
What say you?

Message: I will definately be putting a second set on this year. Make sure you are looking at the All-Terrain T/A KO's. They also sell a plain All-Terain T/A that is not as stout a tire.
The big ++'s are:
1. They have more plys than other tires (equals bigger payload and higher tolerance to abuse). Cut a sidewall 2 yrs ago - still aired up today.
2. They actually cover the wheel lip, if you slip off a rock you don't damage the wheel (see cut my sidewall)
3. They ARE quiet
4. They wear well on the road (I'm over 50K miles)
5. The lugs are generously spaced, so traction is good.
6. Siping is deep, when you have 50K on them they still stop on wet pavement, ice and snow
Negatives:
1. Any Pea size gravel picked up at slow speads is hung onto until about 40-50mph. I experienced this until about half the tread is gone.
2. While they hold the road fine, my 33x10.5-15s will howl (or squeal) around a curve or corner at a higher speed.
Although they work ok in mud, they are not a mud tire. They are not cheap, but I firmly believe I got what I paid for, a good reliable tire that lasted longer than I thought it would and definately held up to more punishment than I thought it would.
Hope this helps

Message: My set has 70k on them...it's time for a change, but they're not bald either. They were a great investment. They've become much more expensive since I bought mine in '02. I think my set was $450 but a friend of mine just paid $900 for his set. Not sure if he was taken for a ride or what...

Message: Go with General Grabber AT2's. They are a steal in price compared to other all terrains and they do awesome on my 99 4x4 in the mud and the sand. They are also very quiet and smooth on the road. Tirerack.com has 265/70-16 in stock for $90.00. The BFG All-Terrains will cost you $165.00 for the same size. Also the two tires look very similar.

Message: Two most popular truck tires on the road (at least in Montana)
1. BFG All-Terrain TA KO
2. Cooper Discoverer ST (which is significantly cheaper)

Message: I just put a set of Dominator, A/T sport tires on my 01, 4.7, QC, 2wd, manual. 255/70-16
They are an excellent tire for the money. Discount tire sold them to me for $100 a tire, and that's with all the warranty, balancing for life, etc.

Message: Tires on a car or truck are like wings on a airplaine. Very important. Spend the money on quality rubber. I ride on Michelin XCX 31-10.50/15 I feel like I'm glued to the road. When I bought the tries I just got my tax refund and know I wanted something good. When I looked at the price I grabed my chest. The guy at the store told me it would be money well spent. I did a little research and found out just how high quality a tire it was. Anyway 70,000 miles latter and I'm still happy that I spent the money. I'll get another 20,000 or 30,000 miles out of them and they feel just as good today as they did the day I bought them.

Message: Is anyone running the Goodyear Wranglers that came stock on the truck (on the first tire swap)? I just bought my truck used 02 QC 4x4 with 58000 miles on it. The dealer through a set of Wrangler RT/S on with the purchase.

Message: put on a set of 31X10.50R15 BFG A/T T/A KO's about 3 months ago.
If you look around real well, you can score them for about $105.00 a tire mounted. After tax, extended warranty and what not i paid $500. Pretty sweet if you ask me. Havent had traction problems on any terrain, at all, ever.
