Usually all 6-speed transmission are high geared. The reason being is that they provide better top end speed. I am not saying that it is for sure high geared and with the 4:56 gears you would probably never notice. I still think that a 4-speed would do just as well as far as towing. I mean come on, we have been using 4-speed overdrive transmission for years and it has seemed to work very well.

First gear is pretty decent, but look at the rest of the gears. It looks pretty high geared to me.

The 45RFE later became the 5-speed 545RFE.
Gear Ratios:
1st 3.00:1
2nd 1.67:1
2nd Prime 1.50:1
3rd 1.00:1
4th 0.75:1
Reverse 3.00:1
545RFE only:
5th 0.67:1
The Tundra 6- speed has LOWER transmission gear ratios, then the Dodge transmission. Combine that with the Tundra's 4.30 rearend gears someone else posted,,, and the Tundra should tow MUCH better than the Dodge. Heck, the Dodge is in 3rd gear when it's at a 1-1 ratio, while the Tundra doesn't get to a 1-1 ratio until 4 the gear.
Not a Toyota fan, but the numbers look better.

I never said that the Dodge had a better transmission. I do not like 5 or 6 speed overdrive transmissions. I think that Ford and Chevrolet have been doing quite well with 4 speed overdrive transmissions.

This new tundra is 100% american. It was Designed and built here. even all the parts for the truck were all built in american factories. Toyota wanted this truck to be 100% american in every way. This truck is more american than any chevy, dodge and probably ford in at least 10 years. Most of the domestic vehicles now either are manufactured in another country, usually mexico, or the parts are built somewhere else and the trucks get assembled here.. or both.

They are also designed here as well....
6 speeds are now the it thing for towing... F250/350/450 run six speed manual with the diesel, the new F150 is a six spd auto, as was stated before, just a tighter set of gears, gives you/or computer more options as to which gear to pick
