Message: Does your truck have an automatic or 5 speed? It's a very simple swap to put an older 727 or 904 automatic into your truck. You can usually find one for under $100. as far as I can tell its no problem to put an older (87 and up) 5 speed out of any 4 cylinder or v/6-v/8 Dakota into your truck either.I've bought them at my local(KY) pull-a-part for as cheap as $57 recently.Good luck, hemichuck

Message: I took a 5speed out of a cherokee and put it in my old dak. Had to swap a few parts but it worked out fine.

Message: Yes the trans was at pull-a-part in Louisville.Ya gotta love that place,I was there the other day looking for some stuff and there were a couple of mexicans just got done pulling a 5 speed out of a 94 Dakota sport for $57 Too bad I didnt get there an hour earlier!
There are a number of 93 and up magnum powered ram vans that still have motors and transmissions in them. There were also several 94 and up Dodge trucks in there.Their pricing is incredible,You can buy a V8 engine for $129.26 or a V6 for $118.48,Transmissions cost $43.09 regardless of what they came out of,and the warranty is $11.82.They sold the transfer case out of a 97 full size Dodge 4WD for $75 with a $10 warranty.I bought a AM/FM/CD/Cassette out of a 96 Dodge last week for $18.
If you live anywhere near one of their yards you should really pay them a visit.Sometimes I just go over at lunchtime to shop around!
